We touched on the winter blues from January 19 to January 26, 2022.
Today we wanted to touch on Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
The winter blues, simply put, is a sadness whereas SAD is a more severe depressed state that normally starts in the late fall or early winter and go away during the spring and summer. It should be noted, however, some individuals can experience SAD during the spring and summer months.
Symptoms of SAD differ from winter blues and may include depression, lack of motivation and/or energy, loss of interest in normally enjoyed activities, appetite and weight changes, the feeling of hopelessness or worthlessness and can even include thoughts of death and suicide.
Please seek professional help if you are experiencing these symptoms. Do not suffer in silence!
