Truly listening to someone takes effort and our undivided attention.
When we listen attentively, we are not listening to respond; we are listening to learn. This information could be educational materials, it cold be moral support for someone sharing their opinions and feelings.
If we listen to respond, we are missing part of the message that is being relayed to us because we are not allowing our minds to absorb the details of the message. We are busy formulating our response.
When someone is communicating with you, give them your undivided attention. Do not interrupt.
Listening skills take patience, practice and effort!
